In residences unknown, tar on tar in obsidian night, moths crowd around the life of a streetlamp, so unassuming and faintly glowing – the last songs of the Hesperides echoing in silent mist as You stepped into the light. You who is Heaven’s holiest angel, you who shine with radiance unlike any other, through the Abyss you pierce through with such heart-wrenching, undying ease. Oh, in Desolation’s maternal arms I soothe in the comfort of yearning, of wishing for your presence and your love. Melancholia begets grief – the grief of touching your shadows, chasing after mirages in half faded fields of dandelion, so far away. Wishes so quickly blown into the wind, running until our hearts burst in the crisp, bare summer’s air with fireflies like fairy lights dancing to an unheard psalm, that makes you smile, makes you laugh, and I want nothing more than to return to the past and hold Time, hold it tightly, and watch the grains drop one by one into the soft peat of dirt until there is nothing left but Love.
I have begun to feel breathless, heart overflowing with untold emotions and sorrow. To fight against Time itself, to fight against Fate, dear cruel Fate that tears us apart into Paradise and Damnation, separately, until through Purgatory we have to meet in flames and distant cries of Seraphim from the Throne of God. I repent endlessly, eternally, into an empty night with stars that have died long ago...to you, Selene, cold as ice and your gaze ruthless, dead as hope, taking the lightness of my soul and turning it into stone. Until we meet again, I say, pining for your gracious eyes to gaze at me just once – once is enough – and only then will I be content and may I rest in peace under the sun. Through time we think and I realize freedom is found in Futility. Just as seasons shift, they come and go, again the cycle repeats such as Life and in its infinite wisdom and strength, the beauty shall not come without Death beside – His chariot signals not endings, but new beginnings found in the little known path beyond. It is our ultimate equalizer, in start and in end, we all come from nothing to nothing and our time here is temporary, so love! Love and hate all the same, cultivate passion from life and weep through the despondency that shall only come to existence with longing and untold wishes, kept silent in our throats until our hearts cease to pound and our bones turn to dust.
Though they ask if it is better to speak or to die, it is better to speak, always speak. Death waits for us and will take us home one day, He will always be patient – behind you He shall linger mournfully, empathetic under the shadows He comforts us in. Speak your truth, let the future go as it goes, life will happen, Time slips away quickly and though you chase, you chase so hard, it’ll fly away, and beautiful as it is, you will realize that nothing is forever and the divinity in the Absurd is truly incomprehensible. There is such liberation in existence, though begetting Suffering, though begetting painful Hope that one ought never dare to invoke, the end is peaceful and everything before it is ours to take. As a moth fights its destiny in flame, we too must forge a path into cliffs that lead to convergent paths, both through Hell and diverging into Heaven. I have yet to meet you, yet I desolately ache for you already, to rest my head into your arms and endlessly allow Silence to take over Fate itself – as everything is nothing and in that, nothing is insurmountably plenty.
